Just a few days ago, I was out with a friend visiting another friend, and we got to talking about the business and life future plans, and of course school at the moment. When somehow we started talking about how dropping out of school has become the new trend that has helped people develop their full potential. Silly right? I know but honestly, is it not interesting to know that the likes of, Michael Dell, Bill gates and Mark Zukerberg who are world millionaires were all school drop outs? Now this makes me ask myself and you guys this question is school really important? A knowledgeable friend of mine once said that “schools do not train people to be their own bosses; instead it trains you to work for someone else”. I pondered on that for a while and came to a conclusion that his statement was indeed very true. Many people just spend all their time going to school and they never sit and just think about what it is they really want to do in their life and how they can really do it, and then when they are through with school they are frustrated as they go about looking for jobs. Now I am not saying that people shouldn’t work for other people, all I am saying is that people like you and I should bring out time to really think about our potential and what we really want to do even when we find ourselves schooling, don’t think because you are in school you have all the time in the world because honestly you don’t.
Finally to answer my own question “is it just me or does school not really matter”? , To me, school matters to a certain level probably high school, that is why anyone who schooled up to high school can make something great out of his or her life, wait what am I even saying, anyone who wants to make something great out of his life can do it whether with or without school at all. But schooling after that i will say is not really necessary. Please feel free to object. Many times I have come to realize that many of most these millionaires who dropped out of school already had a definite Idea, or plan, they already had something they knew they wanted and could do and they went out to get it, they took a risk. But most times we play it safe, this even includes me. But now seriously ask yourself this, Why am in school? Is this going to help me achieve my dream? What more should I do to get there? And in no time you will start getting your answers, and if there is something you are really sure of go out and get it. Even if you don’t leave school, still go out and get it. Let me also just state that you will be the smartest if you actually stay in school and still do what you want or love at the same time.
